Building work in the Southern area

The construction of new farm buildings, as part of our Sustainable Catchment Management Plan (SCaMP), is coming to a close.

The final phase of our building work, a complex at Wood Farm near Delph, is nearing completion. The complex is made up of a cattle shed, muck store and hay barn, complete with hard standing for storage of silage bales. These photographs show buildings that have been erected to enable the tenant farmer to keep cattle indoors during winter and the catchment-friendly storage of muck and silage bales. Their construction has modernised facilities for the farmer and will also help improve habitat and water quality.

Construction is being carried out alongside other improvement activities such as water quality fencing and stone wall restoration. We’re also planning future work at Wood Farm including Molina reversion and woodland planting under the England Woodland Grant Scheme. Both these projects will help us improve catchment conditions overall, and help enhance water quality.
