Corporate Responsibility Report 2009

In October 2008, we launched a programme of carbon leadership workshops as part of our Think Carbon programme. The workshops, developed in conjunction with the Low Carbon Culture Company (a Carbon Trust Enterprise), are targeted at middle managers. Their purpose is to provide this key leadership group with the knowledge, confidence and tools to inspire and lead their teams to make a difference on carbon.

The workshops are made up of a number of presentational and interactive sessions, each linked to one or more ‘Carbon Leadership Tactics’, designed to help managers and leaders engage effectively around key carbon challenges.

Each workshop session is supplemented by useful tools and presentational materials, including handouts, slides and videos that delegates are encouraged to take away and use with their teams.
Every delegate is asked to make two commitments. These are to commit to delivering a carbon briefing to their teams and, to make a personal carbon pledge. Both of these commitments are tracked by the Environment and Sustainability team.

10 workshops have been delivered to date, with 116 delegates, giving very positive feedback. A further 20 workshops are scheduled for delivery in 2009/10 involving around 400 employees.
